Preity Zinta on two close encounters of the moribund kind

In her column for the BBC, Preity Zinta writes about her experiences in Colombo and Phuket.

At Colombo, when several Hindi film stars were singing and prancing around on stage, a hand-grenade was thrown, killing several people in the front sections of the audience. The entertainment extravaganza had unwittingly been scheduled on the same day Buddhists mourned the death anniversay of a revered Buddhist monk and put immense pressure on the organizers to cancel the event. Sanity prevailed after Shahrukh Khan, who was obviously the lead act, apologized to the monks for hurting their sensitivities. The show did go on as scheduled, until some madman decided to end everyone's happiness.

When Preity was holidaying in Phuket, a tsunami roared in and blew away the popular resort town.

When you read her piece, what obviously strikes is the fact that she doesnt mention having helped with the relief work at all. Good show, Preity!
