Turing award for TCP/IP pioneers Cerf & Kahn

Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn, who are widely credited with having come up with TCP/IP, the primary network protocol set used in internet communication, have been awarded the 2004 Turing prize. Previous winners include a who's who of computing including Dijkstra, Donald Knuth, Ken Thompson, Denis Ritchie and Douglas Engelbart. The award is widely considered to be the Nobel Prize in computing. Last year, Alan Turing was featured in BusinessWeek among the greatest innovators of the last 75 years.
