India improve more than Brazil and Holland in FIFA rankings

In the latest FIFA rankings, India have moved up two places to #132. In contrast, leading football playing countries such as Brazil (#1), Holland (#2), Denmark (#14), Germany (#15) and perennial under-achievers Spain (#8) and Portugal (#9) did not show any sort of improvement in their rankings.

The news would come as a shot in the arm to Indian football, who got a boost when acquired ten year rights for telecast of games. The All India Football Federation also has a website now.

NB: Note this Smiley just in case you are a tad humour challenged.

On a more serious note, India is a country with such a lack of sporting heroes, that we have to resort to eulogizing a pathetic Indian team, a slightly better than average tennis player and 4th finishers in athletics. Sigh !

So what is the big deal about having sporting heroes? I'd rather us have a better economy with business & social heroes than sporting heroes.
