    China's ignoramus generation

While it is definitely true that China's current generation, despite all the wealth and progress, still do not have basic human rights, perhaps some of the blame lies with them too. The prominent absence of students at a time when Zhao Ziyang, one of the communist party leaders who opposed the crackdown on the pro-democracy movement, died in Beijing earlier this week, indicates that they thought the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 were misguided, impulsive and immature.

The reason China's youth of today think they do not have much to protest about is because of the obvious economic progress China has made in the 15 years since then. "Life ban gaya, tension kaiko lene ka?" seems to be the mantra. Yet, they seem to think that reporting their unhappiness to the media will give them a solution - media that is government owned/controlled.
