Understanding the power of the tsunami
Amitav Ghosh, in the third and concluding part of his description of what he came across in his visit to the Andaman & Nicobar islands, visits the island of Malacca along with the director of the malaria research centre at Port Blair. He is amazed at the director's reactions when he finds things in his (now destroyed) house associated with his wife and daughter, who were killed by the tsunami.
