    'Gemini' Ganesan passes away

Popular film actor "Gemini" Ganesan passed away this morning. He had been ill for quite a while. He was possibly the original romantic hero in Tamil films and was called "Kaadhal mannan" (the king of love) by fans. Most of the movies he acted in centred around that theme and were invariably family entertainers/tear-jerkers. Once he started getting on in age, he moved on to portray the father and grandfather role in several movies, such as Unnal Mudiyum Thambi and Avvai Shanmugi.

Oh, and one of his daughters, Bhanurekha Ganesan, reigned supreme over Hindi mainstream cinema for nearly a decade. Some of her most ardent fans believe she still is!
