    Cricket news:

Australia - A spirited defence is mounted by a trust against the plan to move international cricket away from the SCG. Ricky Ponting was last spotted falling down from the balcony of the Somerset club house after it was revealed that he was in hysterics following a question from a scribe on England's chances in next year's Ashes. If Warne is around, can controversy be far behind?

England - The squad for the ICC Champions Trophy is announced.

India - The squad for the ICC Champions Trophy and the other two joke one-day series is announced. Young Tamil Nadu keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik is included. If you've seen that stupid toss ka boss commercial (except the one in which Irfan Pathan features), you really ought to feel ashamed of yourself to have not collected those Pepsi bottles, bats etc. Harsha Bhogle's analysis of what went wrong for India at the Asia Cup. As if you haven't had enough India-Pakistan matches of late, if things go to plan, Ganguly and Inzamam could be playing on the same side. Ganguly would do well to watch out for Shoaib's new missile - the upper cut landed during volleyball. It is always reserved for the skipper. Ajit Agarkar took 5 wickets for Middlesex.

Sri Lanka - How many initials can a man have? 2? 4?

Misc - The ICC awards panel chairperson will be Richie Benaud. I just hope he doesn't say 'Player X got chew votes out of a total of chew chousand chew hundred and chwenty chew'. Is too much cricket affecting quick bowlers, asks Simon Briggs.
