The issue of whether Muslim men can get away with a divorce by saying talaaq thrice is one that is very close to the community. Any move to alter the laws is typically met with a threat of agitation. The government, as usual just buckles under the pressure, especially when religious groups are involved and religions form part of the vote bank of the elected representatives.
