When the Left's arithmetic is not right

I came across a hilarious claim by the Karnataka state CPI(M) where they claim that since the BJP only got 33.9%, it meant that the verdict was not pro-BJP since 66.1% of the voters were against it.

Here's some news for you, chaps. In the 2004 general elections, as per the Election Commission of India, the CPI and CPI(M) (called the Loony Left or Crazy Commies) secured 2,75,54,725 valid votes out of the total 38,97,79,784 valid votes cast. That works out to a fairly piddly 7.07% votes for them.

Somehow, the absence of a mandate in their favour hasn't stopped them from forcing the UPA government to do their bidding and generally be a pain in the arse!
