It was just too predictable, wasn't it? Just when it looked like negotiations with the Iraqi terrorists over the release of the Indian hostages had reached a stage where they could be set free, it now seems that the group had demanded more ransom, allegedly in lieu of the Iraqis killed during the US invasion.

I'm totally amazed that it is now 18 days since the Indians were taken hostage and the government has done nothing bar negotiate/cringe/grovel. What has the crisis management group done to ensure that India's image doesn't take a battering? Have there been any moves at finishing off this terrorist group and show that we will not bow to anyone? I dont have a problem with buying time and negotiating. But in parallel, there needs to be action taken in raiding the group's HQ/hideouts and eliminating them, just like what Saudi Arabia did at al-Khobar.

Shekhar Gupta asks some difficult questions which the government must answer.
