Shah Rukh on KBC was ok

I watched Shah Rukh Khan on KBC for the first time today. I've been distinctly unimpressed with him for the past decade-and-a-half (well nearly, exclude the TV serials please!). I think he overdoes his acting, his dialogue delivery, his mannerisms etc. I use a Tamil term to describe the way I think he appears/speaks/acts on screen/TV etc. - "Adhiga prasangi". I find it tough to explain what the term means. It's used to refer to someone who comes across as a very arrogant/cocksure person.

I only perhaps caught around 20 minutes of the show today. But it was quite ok. I think there's a difference in the way he deals with the contestants (and vice versa) compared with the Big B. With Amitabh, the contestants were in awe of him "Shit! I'm sitting opposite Amitabh Bachchan saahab!" and he'd go out of his way to be polite (Allahabadi tehzeeb?) etc. With Shah Rukh, it's a little different. I suspect the contestants feel a lot more at home. He acts a lot more casually with the contestants (even if the high-fives do look a little too childish). Maybe he's just a lot more comfortable with the small screen (even after all these years). That's where he came into our TV sets from anyway (Abhimanyu Rai, anyone?)
