Sting Operator Beware!

The recommendation by the committee which inquired into the MPLAD scam is that the members would be remain suspended for around a week more and that the government should initiate steps into laying down guidelines for sting operations.

Perhaps it recommends that before anyone carries out a sting operation, they will need to give two weeks notice (forms filled in triplicate, no less) and display a pass on their person which says "Sting Operator Beware!"

The whole point of a sting operation is to reveal scams, corruption and anarchy in a system. Regulation only means that those in power continue to abuse it with the knowledge that sting operations will never be the same again.

Update: I'd dashed off a similar letter to 'The Hindu', which was published in today's edition. My letter is the last one on that page.
