A couple of days ago there was a superb exhibition of unbending will in the men's gymnastics competition. I watched a US gymnast screw up on the vault in the all-round event. You could see from the look on his face that he felt he'd blown the chance of a lifetime. He had possibly prepared for a few years, physically and mentally, for the event, and it was all possibly worth nothing now. He obviously didnt score too high on the vault. I thought he was basically out of the race, until I found out that Paul Hamm, the gymnast I've been talking about, won gold! [free regn reqd]. That is just truly amazing, isnt it?! Labels: olympics
