Manmohan Singh is India's new Prime Minister. He was invited by President Kalam after the Congress Parliamentary Party elected him as its leader in the wake of Sonia Gandhi's refusal to become PM. This makes him probably the most unlikely PM in Indian history after Deve Gowda. He has a tough job ahead of him in ensuring good economic growth and also living upto election promises made by his crazy partymen in various parts of the country. Add in the Left front and by the time his government presents its first full budget on February 28th next year, he is sure to wonder if it was worth all the trouble. However what will really have him quaking in his boots is that his name doesn't have a single 'r' in it, which is effectively heresy as far as Indian PMs go. I don't believe this. I didn't think we'd ever come to this situation. We chose a surd as our PM! No more 12 o'clock meetings in PMO!
